We’ve just returned from Lyon, where we had the honour of being the exclusive national wine sponsor for Team Canada at the Bocuse d’Or Finale, where our team placed in the Top 10 among 24 competing nations—a remarkable achievement!
At the VIP events for Team Canada surrounding the Bocuse d’Or we showcased wines that demonstrated the harmony between food and our wine – our 2020 Estate Merlot, with its juicy concentration and plush tannins, and our 2021 Laundry Vineyard Riesling exemplified how Canadian wines can stand proudly alongside the world’s finest cuisines. These experiences reinforced two things we’ve always known: great wine should lift a dish without overshadowing it, and that Southbrook wines are entirely food friendly. Our organic and biodynamic practices create wines with the purity and balance to complement any dish, from the very complex, as we saw in Lyon, to a casual dinner at home for friends and family.
Supporting Team Canada in that pressure cooker of the world’s toughest culinary competition also reminded me about resilience- and how it grows through adversity and connection. We have many collaborations that allow us to do what we do— make wine of which we’re extremely proud and, at our vineyard, provide a level of hospitality that enriches and elevates our guest experience.
